No you do not need long distance phone service if you use a calling card.
No…Most all calling cards use a toll free 800 number for access. No long distance carrier needed.. However, due to changes made due to Homeland Security I believe, your home number will be displayed on the phone you are calling….Before, it was some number owned by AT & T or your calling card company..
In most cases you do not need long distance service. What you need is just a regular landline service that can call local number so you can call you calling card access number. Or your service must be able to call toll free numbers. Tried about a few calling cards in the past and I don’t need long distance service to use them.
